Take Me to the Sea - Oil on Canvas - NEW WORK
Take me to the Sea
(from the body of work )
‘When the Tide is Against You’
We all have them.
Those moments & days when you can feel so very overwhelmed, be so tired and somehow know you have travelled so far away from yourself, you don’t know who or where you are anymore. Or sometimes it is just a small thing that can turn your day and spin it downwards.
It is when life can feel like ‘ the tide is really flowing against you ‘
But onwards we travel and somehow, we keep going.
But when we take time and look into those days, there is still magic, still colour, still joy and mostly still hope, that it will all work out.
My beautiful Mum has told me, when she faced some of her darkest hours, she would sit on the side of her bed before sleep and reflect to herself ….
‘ Now Marie, that wasn’t a good day, it was a tough day, it was hard, but there had to be one good thing in it that was positive …….… now let me think …….. what was it … ???
And as she pondered her day, she would find something, even if it was a tiny thing and then she knew then that tomorrow would be better …
These paintings are inspired by this and the Sea.
It is the place I go to, to revive, to restore myself on my harder days & not so hard ! Contained in each one is a splash of colour, against a bed of sea blue, greens and wave whites. The colour represents meaning and message.
Try, if you can to hold onto your colour, even when the tide feels like it is crashing against you, But equally, if you feel you have lost your colour for a while. Look again - For it is there.
